If you quit cold turkey, you can expect many symptoms that can be very hard to deal with.
First of all, there is the terrible sense of loss. They say quitting smoking is not unlike the death of a loved one. You will go through a period of deep mourning.
You might have nightmares and you may even encounter insomnia.
You may have weight gain, with the average person gaining ten to fifteen pounds or more.
You may also go through a period where you will not be very pleasant and many people may decide to avoid you while you’re going through this tough time.
Using medication to stop smoking can alleviate some or all of these symptoms but they may have side effects of their own.
